Love One Another / Teach Me to Walk in the Light
First performed by the BYU Young Ambassadors as part of their fireside “I Believe in Christ,” this arrangement by composer Garrett Breeze was a favorite of audiences all over the globe. Combining two beloved children’s songs, “Teach Me to Walk in the Light” and “Love One Another,” the original SSAATTBB setting features the men and women of the choir separately in 4-part divisi. The SATB setting keeps the ensemble together without additional divisi, making it more manageable for smaller choirs.
Voicing: SSAATTBB and SATB
As I have loved you, love one another. This new commandment: Love on another. By this shall men know ye are my disciples if ye have love one to another.
Teach me to walk in the light of His love; teach me to pray to my Father above. Teach me to know of the things that are right:
Father in heaven we thank Thee this day (Love one another.) For loving kindness to show us the way (So taught the Savior.) Grateeful we praise Thee with songs of delight. (This new commandment.) Gladly, gladly, we’ll walk in the light. (Love one another.)
By this shall men know we are His disciples: when we have love. Teach us, teach us, to love one another.
